About the Role

PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking experienced M&O Project Managers to support the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Facilities Construction Program. This role oversees all phases of multiple construction and modernization projects — from pre-construction through close-out — ensuring they meet LAUSD’s safety, quality, and schedule standards.

As an M&O Project Manager, you’ll coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, and District staff to deliver successful, compliant projects across school facilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all phases of assigned construction projects, including pre-construction, bid/award, construction, and close-out.

  • Review and comment on design documents prior to construction.

  • Prepare and present progress and status reports to management.

  • Coordinate with public agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure project compliance and smooth execution.

  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring they reflect accurate progress and expenditures.

  • Oversee daily construction activities, review contractor schedules and submittals, and manage Requests for Clarifications (RFCs).

  • Review and negotiate contractor change order proposals to ensure fair and reasonable pricing.

  • Manage contractor, architect, and consultant payments; ensure compliance with contract terms.

  • Administer Professional Service Agreements with design consultants.

  • Coordinate delivery of District-provided fixtures, furniture, and equipment (FF&E).

  • Manage project close-out, including Division of State Architect (DSA) certification and financial reconciliation.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Maintenance & Operations team.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management from an accredited institution.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of full-time professional experience managing construction or modernization projects for commercial, public, or educational facilities valued at $2 million or more.

  • Experience coordinating complex, multi-phase projects and working directly with construction and facilities management teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.

  • Experience with LEED or CHPS-certified projects.

  • Knowledge of Division of the State Architect (DSA) design, construction, and certification processes.


Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of project delivery methods and construction management best practices.

  • Ability to interpret design documents, manage schedules, and oversee budgets effectively.

  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling tools, and construction management software.

  • Leadership mindset with the ability to collaborate across technical and administrative teams.


Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $145,000 – $149,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday; occasional after-hours or weekend work as required.
