About the Role

PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking a Field Supervisor – Carpentry to support LAUSD’s Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) program.

This role is responsible for conducting field assessments of building components and systems throughout District facilities, evaluating facility conditions, and documenting findings to support long-term maintenance and capital planning efforts. The Field Supervisor utilizes construction expertise to identify building systems, assess remaining service life, and ensure accurate collection of facility condition data.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and collect building component and facility condition data at District sites.
  • Utilize tablets, laptops, smartphones, and other digital tools to document field observations and assessment results.
  • Apply construction knowledge to identify building systems and components concealed within walls, ceilings, floors, and other building assemblies.
  • Assess the overall condition and remaining service life (RSL) of carpentry-related building components and systems.
  • Apply Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) standards and District guidelines when evaluating facility conditions.
  • Collect measurements, quantities, and field information necessary for facility assessments and reporting.
  • Collaborate with survey teams and trade specialists to gather and validate assessment data.
  • Support facility surveys and special assessments as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of site observations and findings.
  • Assist with data quality control and verification efforts.
  • Provide guidance and support to assessment team members as needed.
  • May supervise staff and survey personnel and serve as a technical resource.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

OR

  • Candidates without a bachelor’s degree must possess a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Up to four (4) years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of full-time professional experience working with on-site construction management teams.
  • Experience coordinating with campus administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience evaluating building systems, construction methods, and facility conditions.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry systems, building construction methods, and facility components.
  • Ability to identify concealed building systems and assess facility conditions.
  • Knowledge of building lifecycle and remaining service life evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience performing facility assessments, inspections, or surveys.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze field data accurately.
  • Proficiency with tablets, laptops, smartphones, and electronic data collection systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting educational facility assessments and modernization programs.
  • Experience with Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) programs.
  • Experience supervising field personnel or survey teams.
  • Knowledge of LAUSD facility standards and maintenance practices.

Work Conditions & Requirements

  • Onsite position supporting District facilities throughout Los Angeles County.
  • Frequent travel between school sites and District facilities required.
  • Must be able to walk active campuses and access various building areas during assessments.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in field environments.
