About the Role

PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking an experienced Field Supervisor – Roofer to support the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Maintenance and Operations Facilities Conditions Assessment (FCA) Program. The Field Supervisor will inspect, document, and assess the condition of roofing systems across LAUSD schools and facilities. This role requires strong technical knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and installation methods, along with the ability to manage and coordinate field survey work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and document roofing system components and conditions at LAUSD facilities.

  • Use digital tools (tablets, laptops, smartphones) to collect and enter field data accurately.

  • Inspect roofing systems, including membrane, flashing, drainage, insulation, and structural elements.

  • Apply construction experience to locate and evaluate hidden or concealed roofing components.

  • Assess the remaining service life (RSL) of roofing systems using LAUSD’s FCA guidelines.

  • Collaborate with other field surveyors and trades to gather measurements and related data.

  • Support additional facility surveys as needed.

  • Supervise or provide technical direction to survey teams, ensuring quality and accuracy of work.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred.

  • Candidates without a degree must have at least 10 years of relevant experience. Up to four years of experience may substitute for each year of required education.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of full-time professional experience in roofing construction, inspection, or facility condition assessment.

  • Strong background in commercial and institutional roofing systems, repair methods, and materials.

  • Prior experience working with construction teams, inspectors, and building administrators preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Expertise in various roofing systems, including built-up, single-ply, modified bitumen, tile, and metal.

  • Ability to assess structural integrity, water intrusion issues, and drainage performance.

  • Proficient in field data collection and digital documentation tools.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $107,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday; occasional weekend work may be required.
