About the Role
PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking a Construction Manager III to support LAWA’s Terminal Development Improvement Program (TDIP) at Los Angeles International Airport.
This role is responsible for managing and coordinating all construction activities performed by contractors across assigned projects. The Construction Manager serves as a key liaison between the project team, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with LAWA standards.
The TDIP program focuses on modernizing LAX terminals to improve passenger experience, operational efficiency, safety, and connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor all on-site construction activities and ensure alignment with project scope and objectives.
- Coordinate with contractors, stakeholders, and project teams during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Ensure construction activities follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs).
- Maintain thorough knowledge of contract requirements, plans, specifications, and approved changes.
- Work with contractors and stakeholders to develop construction plans, milestones, and priorities.
- Monitor budgets, staffing, materials, and equipment to ensure schedule and cost objectives are met.
- Identify risks and implement preventative actions to avoid schedule delays.
- Ensure safe construction practices and adherence to quality standards.
- Prepare periodic progress reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, trade partners, and LAWA operations teams.
- Review contractor change order proposals and negotiate resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with project policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
- Support testing, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness activities.
- Perform additional duties as required to support program objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of construction management experience
- Experience managing projects valued at $100 million or more
- Experience working in active or operating environments
- Experience with delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, and Design-Build
- Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on airport or aviation infrastructure projects
- Professional certifications such as AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, or AICP
- Experience managing concourse, headhouse, or civil/site scopes
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of construction contracting practices and methodologies
- Understanding of full construction lifecycle from pre-construction through closeout
- Strong leadership and stakeholder coordination skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contractor performance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- Familiarity with PMWeb or similar project management systems
Work Conditions & Requirements
- Onsite position at LAX (not remote)
- Full-time Monday–Friday schedule
- May require extended hours or weekend work as needed
- Consultant must provide company laptop and cell phone
- LAWA will provide desktop or laptop for system access
- Transportation to and from project site is employee responsibility
