About the Role

PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking a Junior M&O Project / Project Manager to support the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Maintenance & Operations Planning and Development team. This role assists with the planning, development, and delivery of construction and modernization projects across District facilities.

The position supports all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction and scope development through construction and close-out, while working closely with the Planning and Development Project Manager (PDPM) and other stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination and oversight of all phases of assigned projects, including pre-construction, project development, bid/award, construction, and close-out.

  • Work closely with the PDPM to validate existing site conditions and support project scope development.

  • Draft concept drawings to assist with visualization of proposed project scopes.

  • Review design team feedback and proposed scopes of work; provide recommendations to the PDPM.

  • Prepare draft status and progress reports for management and project leadership.

  • Coordinate with public agencies, utilities, and government entities to meet federal and state requirements.

  • Assist with monitoring project budgets and ensuring budgets accurately reflect project status and progress.

  • Support review of project planning, design, and construction activities to ensure scope alignment with approved definitions.

  • Assist with contracts, bid preparation, and contract planning activities.

  • Support development of project or program policies, guidelines, and procedural improvements.

  • Recommend new strategies or approaches to support program objectives and outcomes.

  • Work with technical personnel to assist in estimating building costs and change impacts.

  • Maintain facility inventory maps using AutoCAD software.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Planning & Development objectives.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.

  • A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential may be substituted for the required degree.

  • Candidates who do not meet the education requirement may substitute additional experience on a year-for-year basis with demonstrated proficiency in the required duties.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time professional experience in Project or Construction Management.

  • Experience working on educational facilities or public agency projects preferred.

  • Experience across all phases of construction, including pre-construction planning, construction monitoring, and close-out.

  • Knowledge of construction safety protocols, Cal/OSHA requirements, and environmental procedures.


Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with Bluebeam and Adobe software.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience maintaining facility inventory maps.

  • Experience with Revit, Revit Enscape, and ArcGIS preferred.

  • Strong report writing, communication, and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
